A Big Week for Seen and Women’s Bone Health

May has been a big month for us at Seen Nutrition.  Not only is it National Osteoporosis Prevention and Awareness Month, we were featured on a national podcast, interviewed in print, and Jenny joined her UC San Diego colleagues to give a commencement speech at one of the top pharmacy schools in the country.  We can see that our message is spreading: real food calcium chews are key to women’s bone health.

Here’s where we’ve been this last week.

It’s a candid, hopeful conversation for women in midlife looking for strength, resilience, and better options.

The Relaunch Podcast: Don’t Wait for the Break:Seen Nutrition on Building Bone Health Today

Hosted by Hilary DeCesare

Adrienne and Jenny joined Hilary DeCesare, the inspirational CEO of the ReLaunch, for a powerful episode focused on what it really means to prevent bone loss before the break happens. We discussed the emotional side of osteoporosis, why so many women stop taking calcium supplements, and how Seen’s food-first makes adherence easier and more enjoyable.

Vitafoods Insights Feature: “Food as Medicine”

In journalist Rik Moors insightful article, “Food as medicine: Calcium chew offers alternative to synthetic supplements,” Vitafoods highlights the science and motivation behind our calcium chew. Moors explains how our dairy-based calcium chew differs from conventional options and how we’re rethinking supplement formats to support long-term adherence and digestive comfort.

Moors spotlights our natural, bioavailable source of calcium, and our commitment to transparency using only four whole food ingredients, and no synthetic binders, preservatives, or sweeteners.

Ithaca Times: Local Innovation into National Impact

We were thrilled to go to our local coffee shop (Gimme Coffee, in case anyone is wondering) and pick up our hometown paper, Ithaca Times.  The paper profiled Seen Nutrition in “Seen Nutrition promotes real food calcium chew for women’s bone health.” The article highlights our roots in Ithaca, NY, our use of locally sourced dairy ingredients, and our partnerships with regional food labs such as the Cornell Center of Excellence.

The article also highlighted that we’re building a sustainable business that supports women, science, and rural economies in Upstate New York, which is very important given the economic condition of this region.

Vitafoods Insights Q&A: Skin in the Game

In a follow-up founder interview , the conversation turns personal. In my conversation with journalist Rik Moors, I shared what it means to take a leave of absence from academia and build a calcium chew company from the start. I like this interview for how it gave  readers a closer look at the “why” behind the brand.

UC San Diego School of Pharmacy Commencement

To round out the week, Jenny was invited back to her alma mater, the UC San Diego Skaggs School of Pharmacy, to deliver the alumna commencement speech. In it, she shared her experience being diagnosed with osteoporosis at 29, struggling with traditional calcium supplements, and eventually co-founding a company committed to helping women avoid the same fate. It was a full-circle moment and a testament to how deeply personal this work is for us.

All this momentum in one week confirms what we’ve known all along: women are looking for a better calcium chew that absorbs well, tastes good, and doesn’t upset their stomach. The coverage we’ve received tells us this need for better bone health education and solutions is real and growing.
